First Nigerian female to become a Brigadier General in the US Army

Amanda Azubuike, a 57-year-old black military officer of Nigerian origin, has made history as the first Nigerian woman to be decorated as a Brigadier General in the United States Army. Her remarkable journey has become a source of inspiration for women worldwide, especially as black women continue to make strides in military leadership. Born in London, United Kingdom, Azubuike is of Nigerian and Zimbabwean descent. Her father, of Igbo origin, moved to the UK at a young age to study law, where he met her mother, a nursing student from Zimbabwe. Following the end of her parents' marriage, her mother relocated to the United States with Amanda and her sister, where Amanda eventually became a US citizen in April 1989. Gynaecologists- Why African women have High fertility rate .

              Maternal health experts have explained why African women give birth to many children, revealing that many of them place a premium on having children. Aside from placing a premium on children, the physicians linked the high fertility rate to choice for these women, adding that having many children is a decision by anyone who desires it.     The gynaecologists clarified that the high fertility rate doesn’t mean that African women were genetically predisposed to it or were more fertile than women from other countries. The fertility rate is the number of children born alive to women during the year as a proportion of the average annual population of women of the same age. Nigeria’s fertility rate, which is said to be 5.3 births per woman, is one of the highest in the world.
