While Nigeria can boast of Emmanuella Samuel as its biggest kid comedian, Kenya can now brag about the latest kid comedian in town, Bridget Bema.

With her recent skit, which went viral a few days ago, Bema can now sit on the same table with Emmanuella who has held sway as one of the funniest children in Africa, with numerous awards and brands endorsements to show for it.

Although the yardstick in comparison is still wide apart as Emanuella has about 570,000 Instagram followers while Bema who recently opened her Instagram account commands a following of about 20,000 people. Regardless, the latest internet sensation seems to be off to a good start.

Her stardom had been oblivious to this part of Africa till some days back but ever since her comedy skit went viral in Nigeria, the question has been who is this mischievous little girl that reminds us of Emanuella?

More interesting is the fact that her rise to fame via her skits seem similar to Emmanuella’s, which is the story of a mischievous little girl in certain situations. The major difference is the fact that Bema’s situations thus far happens within the four walls of a school.

Ever since she came into the subconscious of Nigerians, it seems her new-formed fan base cannot get enough of her. No sooner had her skit gone viral had reputable media firms like The Punch, BBC, Legit, among many others done a piece on her.

Nigerian celebrities are not left out on the Bema fever as they saw ‘an Emanuella’ in her.Known for his sixth sense in spotting and creating talents, an apparent excited Don Jazzy took to his Twitter account with 5.6 million followers to say, “E don sure say Bridget Bema name go dey the book of life too.”

Shortly after her skit hit the Nigerian cyberspace, she began to trend on platforms like YouTube, Twitter and Instagram with her older videos re-surfacing to the delight of her Nigerian fans.

Ever since she began to trend in the Nigerian digital space, Nigerians have caught the Bridget Bema bug in different ways. While some took to Twitter to acknowledge the funny girl’s work, some hopped on the Bridget Bema hashtag to promote their interests, while others simply just changed their name on Instagram to Bridget Bema to encourage the young girl. While a host of others have used her name to promote their business in other to get a greater mileage.

The viral skit, which was set in a typical primary school assembly, shows a man who seems to be the head teacher reel out the names of offenders based on several categories ― improper dressing, noise-making, bullying, being disrespectful to teachers and latecomers.

Each offender was asked to leave the assembly line, step forward and kneel in certain spots depending on the offence. With every category that the head teacher mentioned, Bema was a culprit.

Her innocent look and little stature was in sharp contrast with her character. At a point in the skit, the head teacher had to exclaim, ‘Ha! Bridget Bema again.’
