Image

Mrs. Obaseki said her decision to host the reception for the couple was to ease the pain they went through following the disappointment on their wedding day, adding that the compassionate nature of Mr. Abel Eromosele Ugiagbe who felt bad that the registrar lost his job drew her closer to the couple. She noted, “After I confirmed the report as true, I called my friend and wife of the Minister for Interior, Mrs. Aregbesola who briefed her husband about the development. The Minister apologized to the couple. “I really felt for the couple, especially the bride and decided to host them for a reception to make up for the disappointment on their wedding day.” The First Lady commended the groom for his compassionat

The Connection Between Moses and the Bini and Yoruba Peoples

Reading Scripture in just the King James Version of the Bible is one of the most injurious things you can do to your faith as a believer, because quite frankly that version is misleading. Whether that is deliberate or inadvertent is another matter. Take for example a verse like Isaiah 45:11. The King James Version renders that verse as a command, which gives its reader the impression that God wants us to command Him about the works of His Hands. But are we to command God? Elsewhere in the same Book of Isaiah, we are rightly told that to command God is an abomination (Isaiah 29:16). The truth is that Isaiah 45:11 is meant to be rendered as a question not as a command. It is not meant to be “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” It is meant to be ‘concerning the work of my hands command ye me?’ And if you read that verse in other translations, the error of the King James

Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay fight dirty in salon

Ademola Olonilua Popular singers, Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay, have been involved in a fight in a salon in Lagos. In a video, which surfaced online, the duo was seen being pulled apart from getting physical at the salon as they threw altercations at each other. Seyi Shay had walked up to Tiwa Savage at the salon to say hi, but Tiwa was not having it. According to Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay had no right to walk up to her to say hi, considering what she and Victoria Kimani had done to her in the past. Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani had in 2019 released their covers of Kizz Daniel’s hit song, ‘Fuck You’, where they had both dissed Tiwa Savage. In her lyrics, Seyi Shay said, “You know I’m not Savage, I pay my bills.” Victoria Kimani, in her part, accused Tiwa Savage of prostitution and blocking her from a show. Teasing Tiwa Savage, who is also known as ‘African Bad Gyal’, Kimani said, “Grandma African bad gyal, turning 45 and still claiming bad girl. You can block me from a show but you can’t blo

However, the scars on her face, hands, legs and other parts of her body will serve as a reminder of the suffering she faced on the day she was born. Her unemployed mother had fallen into labour on the fateful day while her father, Daniel, who is a mechanic’s apprentice, took her to a traditional birth centre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. Daniel said, “On getting there, the attendant was very courteous. I left my wife at the centre and returned home to get a few things and also attend to my two other children. “Moments later, I received a phone call that my wife had given birth. How Facebook reunited me with my sister after 22 years –Kaffy

Mobola Sadiq Dancer and choreographer, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, has revealed that social media platform, Facebook, was instrumental in helping her reunite with her long-lost sister after 22 years. Kaffy, alongside comedienne, Taaooma; Ghanaian photographer, Enoch Boateng; and Ghanaian fashion entrepreneur, Claudia Lumor; and four others have been involved in a Facebook Creators’ campaign. In a video earlier posted on her social media page, she said, “Facebook has become like oxygen for ‘creatives’. There is something that people do not know that Facebook did for my life. If you read my book, there is a story about being disconnected from the last born of my family. Since she was nine months old, we didn’t know where she was. The moment I broke the Guinness World Record and the news was all over the place, she used Facebook to track me down and that’s how I found my sister after 22 years of being apart.” The 40-year-old also disclosed that her father and aunty were

Waiting for men to demand sex in relationships childish — Yetunde Bakare

Image
Olajide Samuel While some women are shy about initiating sex with their partners, an actress, Yetunde Bakare, does not see anything wrong with it. During an encounter with Sunday Scoop, Bakare said, “Waiting for one’s partner to make the (first) move is childish. Women have their moments too. There are times we (women) feel sexually aroused and if one does not make a move, one’s partner is not a witch and would not be able to guess what’s going on with one. That’s why some women have terrible mood swings. They want it (sex) but feel too shy or proud to ask for it. If one’s partner is one’s best friend, asking for sex should not be a big deal.” The actress also debunked the claims made by some that Nollywood is not lucrative. She said, “I disagree (with that) absolutely. If it was not a lucrative business, there wouldn’t be any successful filmmaker. However, we have people like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu and Kemi Adetiba, who have shown that one can be successful in Nollywood. If one make

Art of the Kingdom of Benin, Nigeria

Image
Benin art is the art from the Kingdom of Benin or Edo Empire (1440–1897), a pre-colonial African state located in what is now known as the South-South region of Nigeria.  The Benin Art Primarily made of cast bronze and carved ivory, Benin art was produced mainly for the court of the Oba of Benin - a divine ruler for whom the craftsmen produced a range of ceremonially significant objects.  The decline of Benin art occurred at the end of the 19th century when the Benin Expedition of 1897 by the British caused impairment in the creation of the arts. On February 18, 1897, the British arrived in Benin City to punish a massacre.  The possessions of the oba and his court became spoils of war. The objects were rounded up with little regard for their associated meaning; no systematic record was kept of their grouping or placement. Many of these objects were sold in London to defray the cost of the expedition.

Why I didn’t ‘bleach’ my skin –Adediwura BlarkGold

Image
Mobola Sadiq Actress, Adediwura Adesegha, aka Adediwura BlarkGold, has said she stuck with her dark skin and did not opt for skin lightening because she did not want to lose her self-esteem and dignity. She told Saturday Beats, “I stayed true to my skin colour because I have confidence. I do not want to lose my self-pride, self-esteem and self-dignity. I’m a role model to the younger ones in my family and I chose to lay a good example, especially to the ones that are girls. I belong to the black race and we are proud of our colour. Lastly, I respect God and appreciate the skin colour he chose for me. Don’t forget that everyone has a choice about how they want to look. “A fulfilling life comes from following one’s creative and emotional desire, and having a certain level of comfort. People have different desires and tolerances. Therefore, some actors will be more fulfilled than others. I am 30 per cent fulfilled. It is a long journey and I am not halfway there.” The curvy actress who al

There are many back stabbers in Nollywood– Motunrayo Oluwakemi

Mobola Sadiq Background I had a good childhood even though I was not born with a silver spoon. There were many ups and downs but my utmost joy is that I triumphed against all that life threw at me. My parents went through a lot for us (children) to survive. I seize this opportunity to commend my mum for her efforts; she is a great woman indeed. She raised me and my siblings well despite the hurdles that were thrown our way. Education I attended Ajegunle Junior High School for my primary education, and Keke Senior High School for my secondary education (both schools are in Lagos). I went on to the Lagos State Polytechnic. Family When I told my parents about my intention to join the movie industry, my mum was initially not in support of my decision. She was worried of the wild rumours and scandals around actresses. She was also scared about the issue of sex in exchange for movie roles. Thankfully, my mum did a good job of raising me and my case was different. She’s is always happy and p
